AAUA Student Murdered During Cult Initiation

Ondo State Police Command has revealed the killing of a 21-year-old undergraduate student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State.


It was revealed that the deceased identified as Daniel Paul, a 200L student of the university, was allegedly murdered by suspected cultists during initiation process into the ‘aiye’ confraternity.

The suspects, who were linked to the killing of Oluwatosin, have been arrested by the police.



According to the State Commissioner of Police, Undie Adie, “On the 20th of May, 2019 at about 1pm, one Kabiru Rasak of Achievers University road, Idase, Owo came to the station and reported that his cousin, one Paul, a student of AAUA, was murdered by unknown persons.


“On the strenght of this information, detectives from Special Anti-Cultism Squad Akure swung into action and made the arrest.


“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to be members of ‘aiye’ secret cult confraternity; they also stated that on the 20th of May, 2019 at about 4am, they took late Paul to the bush at Akungba Akoko town where he was murdered during initiation. The suspects mentioned other members of the group who are still at large.”



The Commissioner added that investigation was still ongoing towards apprehending all other suspects while the Vice Chancellor of AAUA, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun has set up a six-man investigation panel on the sad incident.
