Abductors of Kaduna Pupils, Staff Demand 80m Ransom

Abductors of female pupils and staff of Engravers College in Kaduna on Monday insisted on N10 million per head for the pupils and two staff of the school as ransom.

It is recalled that some gunmen in the early hours of Thursday last week stormed the school and took away six female pupils and two members of staff resident in the school to an unknown destination.

Findings made available to schoolworld, revealed that on Friday the abductors were said to have contacted the management of the school where they demanded N50 million as ransom after jettisoning their earlier demand of N30 million per head for the pupils.

However, on Monday, a source who spoke to newsmen made it known that the abductors declined on the earlier collective bargain they started “which was N50m per syudent and the two staff of the college.”

The source made it known that the kidnappers were furious over media reports and that the school should seek assistance from the Kaduna State Government over the ransom, adding that they called again that each parent of the six female pupils should pay N10m while the two staff should pay the amount as well summing it up to N80m.

“They are insisting on N10m per head from the parent and two staff. They said they wanted the money today (Monday),” the source stated.

“Pressure is being mounted on the kidnappers and victims but we have to take into consideration the lives of the victims,” the source added.
