The Ahamadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria has denied allegations that the institution had embarked on Islamisation and Fulanisation agenda.

The management of the universitiy said contrary to the news going round, ABU remained the most cosmopolitan university in Nigeria with no plan to foist Islamic religion on either staff or students.

Prof. Ibrahim Garba, Vice Chancellor of the university, made the clarification in an interview with newsmen in Abuja.

“It is not true. If you are not in ABU, you will not appreciate ABU,” the Vice Chancellor stated.

Garba reacted to an anonymous publication which had been trending on social media entitled, ‘Islamisation or not, come to ABU Zaria and verify’.

“There is nothing like taking Islamic Law in ABU; there’s nothing like that. In fact, Islamic Law is just a branch of the Department in Law and you cannot even take it if you are not a Muslim, unless by interest in Arabic. So basically, it is not true, it cannot be in ABU,” Prof. Garba stated.
