Dr. Hephzibar Oladebeye, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, as called on private bodies to support the development of the institution.
The Rctor, whe restated his commitment to making the institution a respectable institution, stated that the school needed financial and infrastructural support.
Oladebeye made this known recently at a press conference ahead of the 17th combined convocation of the institution where 16,786 students would be conferred with National Diploma and Higher National Diploma honours.
He made a list of some of the challenges facing the school which include old infrastructure, poor road network, lack of comfortable hostels for students, lack of good laboratories, dilapidated staff quarters and inadequate books/accessories.
“The government alone cannot do it if an instituion as this is to fulfil its mandate. We are soliciting the support of potential benefactors and well-meaning Nigerians to come to our aid so that the mission and the vision for which this institution was founded can be fully achieved,” he stated.
He also revealed that the polytechnic wants to embark on the construction of a 3,000 capacity auditorium, adding that the institution will need about N4.5 billion to construct roads and over N1 billion for laboratories, workshops, hostels and vehicles.
