The Federal Polytechnic in Bauchi state has matriculated 6,983 students for the 2018/2019 Academic Session.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Sanusi Gumau, made iit known that the institution is also set to commence ten degree programs which he announced during the matriculation ceremony of the newly admitted students on Saturday.
Gumau explained that the polytechnic received 7,322 applications but 6,983 applicants were admitted. He said 297 students are for Diploma, 2,448 for National Diploma, 2,046 for Higher National Diploma, 28 for IJMB, 61 for Pre-ND and seven students for Remedial Studies.
He said the programmes to be commenced are in affiliation with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
According to the Rector, the courses to be introduced are degrees in Agriculture and Bio-resoutces Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Architecture, Building Technology, Estate Management and Valuation, Quantity Surveying and Survey and Geo-Informatics.
“This is in addition to the efforts we are making to run postgraduate diploma programmes in the polytechnics. About one month ago, we were at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for PGD in our engineering programs. This also we shall commence soon,” the Rector stated.
