Hilary Nasamu, Director, Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Directorate HQ, has called on the 2019 Batch B Stream II corps members deployed to Gombe State to take advantage of the partnership between the NYSC and Bank of Industry (BOI) to get loan to start a business of their own.
The Director made this known on Monday when he visited the NYSC temporary orientation camp at Amanda, Combe State.
The loan, according to Nasamu, would be given to NYSC members with good business proposal by the BOI without collateral, after surrendering their certificate of national service to the NYSC which they are to repay after a moratorium of three years.
“Every country relies on its youths to redirect their energies for self-reliance. The Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme is introduced to stem the tide of unemployment.
“Jobs are no longer easy to come by because of the state of the economy. You must take this programme seriously. The experience the NYSC confers on you is the best and it is expected to widen your horizon on a lot of things,” he stated.
He encouraged the corps members to take the post-camp skills acquisition training seriously, adding that the Intergrated Northeast Skill Azquisition Centre in Gombe has the capacity to contain 500 corps members.
