Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved a bursary of N50,000 each for indigenes of the state at the Nigerian Law School. He approved N60 million for 120 Indigenes in the Law School to cater for the 2019/2020 session.
According to Governor Makinde, the bursary approval was to display the level in which his administration value education.
He announced the approval on Tuesdasy evening when a delegation of the students visited him in Ibadan.
“Representatives of Oyo State Indigenes at the Nigerian Law school visited me today I approved the sum of N500,000 to be paid as bursary to each Oyo State indigene at the Law School,” Gov Makinde tweeted Tuesday evening.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Executive Governor expressed optimism that his decision will encourage the students and spur them to great level in their academic pursuit, urging them to contribute their quota towards the development of the state and Nigeria after their studies.
He also advised them not to be carried away by the allure of Lagos and other cities after their studies.
Governor Seyi Makinde has been making several moves to improve the quality of education in the state.
