The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said the board has concluded all arrangements for the maiden edition of the 2018 National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Award (NATAP-M).

According to JAMB, the examination board will be presenting merit awards to five Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Head, Media and Information of the board made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos.

According to him, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would be in charge of the presentation of awards on Thursday in Abuja, noting that the award was in recognition of the institutions’ compliance to admission guidelines.

“We want to honour these institutions for doing what is expected of them in the past years, in terms of admission performance. Again, we looked at the most subscribed, the number of foreigners admitted gender balancing and national spread.

“We want to encourage our institutions to be having global outlook and we believe that with this kind of awards, things will change for good.

“You know some tertiary institutions will like to localize their admission by narrowing it down to candidates from their locality,” Benjamin stated.

Benjaman said that those that are expected at the award are Pro Chancellor, Vice Chancellors of Universities, Rectors of Polytechnics and Provost of Colleges of Education.
