Dr. Jamiu Abdullahi, a lecturer in the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Kogi State University, Anyigba has reportedly died of High Blood Pressure (HBP).
Findings by schoolworld revealed that the lecturer slumped while waiting for his test result in the hospital.
Accordingly to a family member of the deceased, the late lecturer could not treat himself of the ailment that eventually took his life due to his unpaid salaries for several months by the Kogi State Government.
It was learnt that, the lecturers of the institution last collected their monthly salaries in February, 2019.
“The family of the deceaswd could not take him to a better hospital because of lack of fund. The deceased had nothing in his account as he has not been regularly paid by the State Government.
“It is unfortunate that the drug that was prescribed for him by his doctor could not be bought because we could not raise anything. And the situation got worsened yesterday at about 2pm when he died,” the family member stated.
The Puplic Relations Officer of KSU, Mr. Jacob Edegbo confirmed the death of the lecturer, describing it as a very sad occurrence.
The corpse of the late Dr. Abdullahi was conveyed to his country home in Iyamoye in Ijumu LGA of Kogi state and has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
