NSCDC Arrest Three UNIBEN Students For Internet Fraud

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), according to findings made available to schoolworld, has arrested three suspents for their involvement in Internet fraudulent activities in the state.

The suspects, Emmanuel Akinlosotu, Giftency Oshafa and Bella Avwerosuo, are undergraduate students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Edo State.

While parading them at the headquarters of the command in Akure yesterday, the state Commandant, Mrs. Christiana Abiakam-Omanu, stated that NSCDC arrested many suspects for various offences such as cyber crime, threat to life, obtaining by false pretences, cultism and other criminal activities, but only the UNIBEN students were paraded.

“Our intelligence gathering revealed that s syndicate of Nigerians in Oman, were suspected to have defrauded victims by false pretences. An accomplice to the suspect based in Nigeria has been arrested, while others are being trailed by our men. Currently, efforts are being made to repatraite the notorious foreign-based suspects, Oladipupo Paulina and Shipe Alaba.

“Another dangerous syndicate involved in Internet love scam targetting middle-aged women has been arrested by our specially-trained officers. University undergraduate members of the gang have been arrested and are assisting with our investigation.

“So far, we have deduced from our investigation that numerous bank accounts are being used by the syndicate and the accounts are undergoing forensic analysis,” she stated.

The Civil Defence boss made it known that the suspects would be charged to court at the end of their investigation.
