The National Universities Commission (NUC), according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), has approved the commencement of nine degree programmes of the Yobe State University, Damaturu, for the 2019/2020 academic session.
Prof. Yakubu Muktar, Vice Chancellor of the university, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the institution would make effort to create a niche for itself as a prominent centre of excellence in teaching, learning and research.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the new degree courses are B.Sc Human Anatomy, B.Sc Biochemistry, B.Sc Human Physiology, B.PT Physiotherapy, B.Sc Geology, B.Sc Microbiology, B.A Linguistics (Arabic), B.A Linguistics (English) and B.A Linguistics (Hausa).
The VC commended the Governor of the state, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, for his unwavering support and commitment to the development of the university and the actualisation of the takeoff of the new courses.
