The National Universities Commission (NUC) on Friday unveiled its targets for the revitalization of the university’s system in Nigeria.
Part of the target goals includes twenty per cent increase in students’ access to university education and twenty per cent reduction of manpower deficit in the university by 2023.
Other targets are thirty per cent upgrade of resource input for teaching, learning and research to meet international best practice.
Prof. Abubakar AbdulRasheed, Executive Secretary of NUC unveiled the blue print while delivering the 35th pre-convocation lecture of Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
The NUC boss noted that by 2020, the commission should introduce enforceable minimum standards in university governance and reduction in the incidence of academic corruption in Nigerian Universities by ten per cent and progressively decline thenceforth.
He said the commission is working tirelessly to improve quality assurance and transformation higher education in Nigeria.
