OSUSTECH Reacts To Death of Abduted Lecturer, Gideon Okedayo


Staff of the Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, have described the sudden death of one of the institution’s senior lecturers, who reportedly died while in the captivity of kidnappers as shocking.

According to the members of staff of the university, Prof. Gideon Okedayo, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, was a peace-loving person.

Recall that Prof. Okedayo, a senior lecturer of OSUSTECH, was abducted on his way to his hometown of Igara in Edo state.

Immediately after the operation, Okedayo’s driver who was mercilessly beaten drove the official vehicle of the lecturer, a Toyota Corolla car with registration number, 06X47OD, to a police station in Edo state to make a complain.

According to findings made available to schoolworld, Okedayo’s decomposing body was found on Monday in the bush, where he was captured by his abductors.

While reacting to the sad occurrence, the Chairman, Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Staff Unions of the institution, Temidayo Temola, stated that the incident is a huge shock to all members of staff of OSUSTECH.

“His decomposing body was found in the bush. This is so sad to OSUSTECH and his family members because the abductors never called anybody, whether ASUU or Okedayo’s family for ransom,” Dipo Akomolafe, ASUU Chairman of the instituion, stated.
