The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has announced the cancellation of Thursday and Friday mid-term break for public primary and public secondary schools in the state.
Gov. Makinde attached his decision to the fact that students of public schools in Oyo state had stayed out of classrooms for several days due to the recent strike actions and public holidays.
The development was contained in a circular with reference number, Edu1070/Col.VI/27, dated June 11, 2019, signed by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Oyo state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Idowu Adeosun.
Adeosun noted that the directive has no effect on private schools in Oyo state.
“I am to inform you that in view of the number of days the pupils and students of public primary and secondary schools have stayed out of classrooms for the reasons of public holidays and strike actions, the mid-term break for the third term of 2018/2019 academic session is hereby cancelled,” the circular read in part.
