The Oyo State Government, according to findings by schoolworld, has pledged to restore running grants to schools which is coming eight years after its stoppage by the last administration.
The state government has, however, sent a stern warning to education stakeholders, saying anyone caught in the act of sabotaging the administration’s efforts to reposition education would be severely dealth with.
The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, while speaking with leaders of the state wing of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) and Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON) over the weekend, said “The government knows that the NUT and AOPSHON are critical stakeholders and we will not tolerate any saboteurs in our determined efforts.
“Government will look into the return of your running grants, because we know that stopping these grants did not do our schools any good”.
Speaking with local government education boards’ financial officers and auditors, Adeniran made it known that Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration had zero tolerance for vices that could disrupts its effort.
