According to the organisers of the event, the lecture will address the subject, ‘Governance, Citizenship and the Nigerian State’ to highlight the inter-relationship between citizenship, its current status in the Nigerian polity and governance.
“The lecture will make clear the lineages and genealogies of the idea and practice of governance while situating the conceptual flourish within the current travails of the state.
“In addition, it will address itself to the much discussed issue of public sector corruption, going beyond superficial approaches to keenly analyse within a global context the subsisting status of Nigeria’s anti-corruption agenda.
“That apart, the lecture is billed to offer policy recommendations targeted at lifting Nigeria out of the current pervasive poverty, material and intellectual, to which it has been sentenced by weak governance and well leadership deficits,” the statement said.
