Ten-Year-Old Pupil Wins APEN Spelling Bee Competition

Ten-year-old Firtrah Adegbite of Greenwood House School has emerged the winner of the Association of Private Educators in Nigeria/Grace Schools Senior Primary Spelling Bee Competition.

Adegbite, who is a primary five outstanding and bright pupil, won the spelling competition tagged “Super Spellers”.


The spelling competition, which had fifty-one participants from different schools in Lagos, was held at Grace Schools, Gbagada, Lagos.


In a statement issued by Greenwood House School, Adegbite stated that his acievement was as a result of the intence support and training given to him by his teachers and very happy that his hard work and commitment paid off.


Commenting on the pupil’s performance, Dr. Titilola Ekua Abudu, Co-fonder and Administrator of Greenwood House School explained that the school is always committed to giving their students the best education.


“The students practiced regularly and for the finals at least three times daily. A teacher is primarily assigned to each student with other teachers to support. Sometimes they spare time after school to train.

“We applaud competitions like this as they play a role in motivating students to work and we are extremely grateful for the opportunity extended to us to partake,” she stated.
