Twenty Corps Members In Kwara To Repeat National Service

Mrs. Esther Ikupolati, Coordinator of the Kwara State Youth Service Corps, has revealed that twenty corps members will repeat the national service as punishment for absconding from their places of primary assignment.

The Coordinator told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ilorin that fifteen of the corps members who violated various sections of the NYSC Bye Laws would have their tenures extended, ranging from two to four months.

She also made it known that the punishment would stop others from treading the path of indiscipline, adding that the affected corps members were among the 1,781 who served in the 2018 Batch C Stream I in the state.

Ikupolati stated that four deserving corps members, who passed out in low-key ceremony which was held at the NYSC Secretariat in Ilorin Monday, received NYSC State Honours Award for distinguishing themselves in the course of the service year.

“It is our tradition in the NYSC to always reward hard work, ingenuity, resourcefulness and innovations among corps members during the passing out ceremony,” she noted.

Mrs. Ikupolati also lamented the passing away of one of the outgoing corps members, who died due to ill health.
