Prof. Enefiok Essien, Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), has tasked the newly admitted students of the institution to be disciplined and dedicated to their studies.
The Vice Chancellor, who gave the charge over the weekend during the students freshmen talk organised by the University Women Association (UWA), on the theme “Academic Success: Imperative of a Good Beginning” held at Onyeama Ugochukwu hall, Town campus in Uyo, urged the fresh students to shun all forms of social vices such as drug addiction, alcoholism and cultism.
The VC, who was represented by Dr. Etafia Ekanem, admonished the students to take advantage of the good number of academic teachers in the institution to boost their potentials.
Mrs. Rosaline Essien, President of the UWA, in her address, admonished the newly admitted students to be of good conducts, resist pressure to join questionable clubs and to strictly adhere to the university dress code.
She urged them to be studious while undergoing their career in the university, addiing that their academic journey had just begun as there was no short-cut to achieveing success order than to engage in reading.
While congratulating the students for being found suitable for admission into the university, the UWA President asked them to count themselves lucky to have been admitted.
