Zamfara Gov. Suspends Staff of Primary School Over Desecration of Qur’an

The Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle has suspended all the staff of Shattima Model Primary School, Gusau, indefinitely over desecration of the holy Qur’an in the school.

According to a statement issued by the Director-General, Press Affairs of the governor, Yusuf Idris, the school has also been shut pending the full investigation by the Basic Education Commission. The statement was issued over the weekend.

Findings made available to schoolworld, revealed that pages of Qur’an were discovered around 11am on Friday in the sewage of the primary school.

Matawalle, who is currently in the United States to win over investors to the state, assured that the state government would fish out those behind the ungodly act, directing immediate deployment of three additional security guards to all public primary schools in the state capital to beef up security.

The governor stated that people should report suspicious movements in their areas to security agencies or Shariah commission officials for prompt intervention.
