Jim Ovia, Chairman and founder of Zenith Bank, has pledged the bank’s support to the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) on infrastructural development of the institution.
The bank’s chairman made the commitment after Prof. Michael Adikwu, Vice Chancellor of the institution, honoured him as the pillar of the university in Abuja.
Ovia, who was represented by Valentine Eze, an Assistant General Manager of Zenith bank, stated that the bank’s relationship with the university has been cordial and that there will be more areas of cooperation.
He also said that the bank’s partnership with the institution to help some of its department building capacity is ongoing.
Prof. Adikwu, earlier in his remarks stated that one of his major concerns was how to bring in the corporate world and other sectors to assist in repositioning the university, since an institution is collectively owned by the entire society, especially given the quantum of work needed to be done.
The VC said that the institution found a worthy partner in Zenith bank.
“I want to specially commend the speed with which the structure was executed and to me such shows the high level of effectiveness that Zenith Bank is known for in its business dealings,” the VC stated.
